Canne de Combat
Canne de Combat is the weapons component of savate.  It is a fast and exciting sport using a single 3-foot 11-inch cane made from chestnut wood.  In addition to the sport, double cane, cane self-defense, and french quarterstaff (i.e., baton) are included in the curriculum. Techniques are practiced from both the left and right hand.

Participants advance at their own pace, learning a variety of offensive and defensive techniques including strikes, parries, evasions, lunges, and aerial and spinning maneuvers.
Creativity and self expression are encouraged within the confines of the sport.
Classes are held at the Cedar Lane Recreation Center in Columbia, Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:30 pm.

Registration is through the Howard County Recreation and Parks site.
